Welcome to the Ranchlands Learning Community. We have a vibrant community and look forward to working together as a team to provide amazing learning experiences. For the upcoming school year we will be continue to be a part of the “Start Smart Stay Safe” initiative with the Calgary Police Services, Mount Royal University and the Calgary Board of Education and Calgary Catholic Schools. The purpose of this initiative is to develop and implement a strength and resiliency based curriculum for our students.

It is our intent to:

  • Design personalized learning opportunities for all students.
  • Design learning environments that reflect good teaching and learning practice.
  • Devote time and resources to develop learning profiles and plans so that students learn in deeper and more meaningful ways and students will achieve success with their learning.
  • Develop relationships based on respectful treatment of all people.
  • Discover that which is truly unique and wonderful about each individual.
  • Direct our energies toward community and the common good.
  • Determine ways in which each learner can meet with success.

Ranchlands School serves the northwest communities of Ranchlands and Sherwood.

We have one system special education classroom for a Paced Learning Program serving Area 1 students (see Program Focus & Approach).

Our Vision

Everyone in the learning community is valued for their generosity of spirit and strength. Each child is seen for his/her gifts knowing that our responsibility is to hold their potential in sacred trust never failing to highlight the best that exists in each learner.

Through passion, empowerment, self-motivation and self-awareness, students extend their learning beyond their doors.

School Mission

We actively engage students to pursue their passions. We are committed to fostering belonging and supportive relationships within our community and to make certain that voices are heard and respected.

School Development Plan

Each year, our school prepares a development plan with input from teachers, school staff, students and parents. We review many sources of data, including report cards, provincial achievement test results and school surveys. Based on this information, we create our plan identifying targeted areas for growth. Our school development plan is not meant to represent all of the work that takes place in our school, but rather it focuses on specific areas for improvement.

School Improvement Results Report

Our school also prepares a results plan, which looks at our previous school year. It shows our students’ achievement and progress in meeting the goals and outcomes as set out by the CBE and Alberta Education, outlines some of the highlights of our school development plan and gives an overview of our school. You can look on the CBE website for system-wide results.
