Our Week at a Glance newsletter is sent out once a week to provide you with the most up to date information on what is happening at Ranchlands School.
Important Dates
Monday, September 2 - LABOUR DAY - NO SCHOOL FOR ALL STUDENTS
There is no school for ALL students on Monday, September 2 due to the Labour Day Statutory Holiday. We will see everyone on Tuesday, September 3!

Thursday, September 5 – Meet the Teacher Evening – Presentations at 6pm or 6:30pm Please join us on September 5 to meet your child’s teacher, learn about school schedules, routines and class information. There will be a brief presentation in your child’s classroom followed by time for questions. These presentations will be offered twice at 6pm and 6:30pm. No registration is required. Come at the time that suits you best.
Tuesday, September 10 - Ranchlands School Council Meeting - 6:45pm in the school library
All parent(s)/guardian(s) of students attending Ranchlands School are welcome to attend! The September meeting will consist of the Annual General Meeting and Executive Committee elections. There is an option to attend this meeting in person or online; the meeting link will be shared next week.
Announcements
OFFICE POLICIES:
We would ask you to adhere to the following procedures when visiting the main office:
∙ If you are dropping your child off late, please ring the front door buzzer. Your child will be let into the building and is expected to visit the office for a Welcome Slip prior to heading to their classroom.
∙ If you are picking up your child early, we ask that you call us with your plans as soon as you're aware of them so that we can have your child ready to go once you arrive. Please ring the front door buzzer and a staff member will escort your child out to you; there is no need to sign your child out.
REMINDER: Only parents/guardians and listed Emergency Contacts can pick up a student from school. Please contact the office at 403-777-6350 ext 0 to add emergency contacts or to discuss this further.
WHAT TO DO FOR A STUDENT ABSENCE? If your child will be absent from school for ANY reason please leave a message on our Attendance Line at 403-777-6350 ext 1. Please spell your child's last name, provide us with the teacher's name and be sure to leave the reason for your child's absence. You can leave messages on the attendance line 24 hours a day.
START OF THE YEAR ONLINE FORMS:
Each year, schools have a variety of forms that parents / legal guardians are required to complete or review and update, some of which are paper and others online. The necessary paper forms will be sent home early next week so be sure to check your child's backpack! At the Calgary Board of Education (CBE), the forms in an online format (MyCBE/SchoolEngage) are:
∙ Demographic Verification - 2024-25 – This form includes your child’s personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information.
∙ Citizenship Information Update - 2024-25 – This form becomes available if you change your child’s citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form.
∙ Annual Authorization – 2024-25 – This form provides consent for school and district use of personal information.
To complete these forms:
1 | Sign in to your MyCBE account. Don't have a MyCBE account yet? Click here to register for one.
2 | Click on the SchoolEngage icon
3 | Select the form
4 | Complete or review and update the form
5 | Click on Submit to send the form electronically to the school
6 | Repeat steps 3-5 for each form
Please submit the Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms in SchoolEngage for your child by Friday, September 13.
MEDICAL FORMS - IMPORTANT!
A Student Health Plan medical form must be completed:
∙ if a physical or medical condition may affect the student's attendance at school; and/or
∙ if medication is to be taken at school; and
∙ and reviewed and updated annually or sooner if there is a change in the student's health concern or school registration.
If your child requires a Student Health Plan form, please download/print the form from the CBE's website and return to the school (along with medication if applicable) as soon as possible.
