Announcements
Whole-School Art Residency (October 5 - 9)
Do you love candy? Do you enjoy Halloween? We are excited to welcome local artist Lauren Walker to Ranchlands School for a fun and creative art residency from October 5 - 9! Throughout the week, students will explore the concept of scale in art by learning how to transform tiny candy treats into larger-than-life creations. Using a variety of artistic techniques, students will investigate size, shape, and proportion while creating unique Halloween-themed decorations.
We look forward to a week filled with creativity, imagination, and plenty of festive fun!
In preparation for this event, we are looking for 15 to 20 microwave-sized boxes. If you have any you'd like to donate, please have your child bring them to the office.
Dogs on School Grounds
We would like to remind our school community that dogs are prohibited on school grounds in accordance with the City of Calgary's Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw. We thank you for adhering to this bylaw and keeping all our students safe. Please note that there is an off-leash dog park right across the street from the school very close to the crosswalk.
Playground Supervision
Supervision is provided on the playground between 9:00am - 9:15am and at lunchtime. Students using the playground after 3:48pm are assumed to have prior parental permission and are therefore responsible for their own safety.
Playground Safety During School Hours
We want all of our students to be safe, and therefore, in order to prevent accidents, baseballs, hockey sticks, bicycles, skateboards, in-line skates, scooters and sleds of all types are not to be used on the school grounds during school hours. Backpacks could get caught on equipment, and so must not be worn while on the creative playground. Tag games are not allowed on the creative playground.
City of Calgary After School Program
The city will once again be offering a FREE after school program on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Ranchlands School between 3:50 pm - 5:50 pm. This program is meant for grade 4 through grade 6 students, and it will begin the week of October 6 and will run until May 20, 2027. Registration forms are available for pickup from the office or can be completed online. Please return the completed forms to the office as soon as possible as spots will be offered on a first-come first-served basis. Please contact Kristina del Corro at Kristina.delcorro@calgary.ca for more information.

Save the Date! November 25 & 26 - Ranchlands School Council Casino
AFORCS (Association for the Friends of Ranchlands Community School) is excited to share that we have been granted another casino event at ACE CASINO AIRPORT (40 Aero Crescent NE) on WEDNESDAY NOV 25, 2026, AND THURSDAY NOV 26, 2026. We are eligible for an event like this every eighteen to twenty-four months; the funds raised from events like this is what enables us to provide students with field trips, in class speakers, new technology, school resources, and more, at little or no cost to families.
This is where you come in – WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! You do not need to have prior experience. Volunteering at a casino can be a lot of fun, you’ll get a free meal (the food at this casino has been amazing in the past), and it’s a great way to meet other people from the Ranchlands School Community. We would love to see some new faces this year!
