WAG Sept. 18-22 | Terry Fox Run, Emergency Lunches, Fees, After School Program, School Council

Dear Parent(s)/Guardians

Our Week at a Glance email will be sent out once a week to provide you with the most up to date information with what is happening at Ranchlands School.

Terry Fox Run - Thursday, September 21

One of our greatest Canadian heroes is Terry Fox, whose dream was to find a cure for cancer. He raised funds for cancer research by trying to run across Canada. We will continue his dream at Ranchlands with our school Terry Fox Run. Students have already been training for this run in their Physical Education classes. We are very excited at the prospect of helping this very worthwhile venture to assist in continued cancer research while promoting a healthy lifestyle. In the true spirit of Terry Fox, our school will be running on September 21st.
As a Ranchlands community, our goal is to support the Terry Fox Foundation. We are once again holding a coin drive this year. Our slogan is “Toonies for Terry,” but students can bring in nickels, dimes, quarters, loonies, and toonies during this time. We will collect money from September 18th – September 25th. You can also make online donations at http://www.terryfox.org, donate to a school and search for Ranchlands School.

Parents are valuable members of our school community. We hope that you will assist your child in supporting such a worthwhile cause. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school. Let’s keep Terry’s dream to find a cure for cancer alive! To learn more about the Terry Fox Foundation, please visit http://www.terryfox.org Sincerely, Mrs. Baker & Mr. Hefler

Emergency Lunches

Are you struggling to provide a lunch for your child? If food scarcity is an issue for your family, please contact the office, and we will ensure that your child receives a healthy lunch each school day. Ranchlands School is grateful to be supported by the Brown Bagging for Calgary's Kids charity, who deliver healthy lunches to us each week.

Lunch Hour Supervision Service Fee

The Noon Hour Supervision fee applies to all students in grades 1 through 6 who stay at school for lunch. Please log in to your MyCBE account to register your child for this service. Please call the office if you require assistance with registration or if you have any questions.

Concerned That You Cannot Afford to Pay School Fees?

No child is ever denied access to an education at the CBE due to their family's inability to pay. The CBE offers a Central Fee Waiver which is based upon income level and covers the following central fees: Yellow School Bus Transportation, Lunch Hour Supervision Service and Student Supplies fee. Please log into your MyCBE account to complete the 2023/2024 Central Fee Waiver Application or contact the office for assistance.
